2 zombies becomes 4 zombies

A very long time ago I turned two little boys into zombies ... today I drew them again.

It's been a very long time since I did a portrait and it felt good to start again. I used red to sketch the boys and I kept it very loose.

Basic colors were blocked in next. I'm using acrylics because they dry fast and I like to draw over what I paint, but I don't feel like waiting today.

And this is the drawn on image now ... i had to adjust the clothing. The ink was laid down with a normal black ink gel pen.

Badda boom badda bing, a bit of this and that, a little trademark secret stylizing and it's done.
And lucky for everyone I still possess the original zombie portrait of these 2 boys from so long ago. Now I'm going to mail it all out to their dad.

Whatcha think? Want more details? Less? Something else? Let me know in the comments.

Two Half Zombie

This is what happens when Byron Rempel takes two pieces of paper, puts them together and starts to draw a head. Then each piece is separated and painted created two distinct zombie heads, that are actually one. It creates an interesting effect and while it was only created to pass the time, it is something that will probably be done again in the near future.
For those that like the details, each piece is about 1.5"x5" mixed media on paper. It is for sale if you want to own it, click here ... there are also prints available at the stores, you can find the links to them on the side of the blog.

So ... new post in a long time ... how have you been?
I've been stupid busy with family events and life issues in general. Trying to get the blogs set up and running better and also trying to get more involved in other social media platforms like instagram, as well as getting more regular with updating the stores with new products. It's a lot of work for one person to do, never mind creating new artwork.

And now I'm going to go back and update some more parts of this blog.
laterz ....

not my zombie son

Recent zombie portrait commission ... the first son.

International Womens Day

It's international womens day today and here's a shout out to all the moms out there that try to bring fun to their families lives, like Rilla here. She got both of her boys zombified to bring some more weirdness to their house. As a sign of appreciation, I zombified her too.

ZOMBadocious Trump

Someone hired me to paint Donald Trump, and gave some suggestions for how he should look. The most important part was to sew his mouth shut so he'd stop spewing so much shit out in to the world. It worked for a while but eventually it started trickling out his ears.

Zombie Trump for president of the apocalypse ... right?

zombie 175 - Renee - and there's an animation too!

The newest member of the 1000 zombies project is Renee. She is the partner of zombie 274.
So ... did she understand that you just can't live with a zombie or did she decide she didn't want to live without her husband? Until death do you part doesn't mean much after the zombie apocalypse.

If you want to get your own zombie portrait, click here.

This is the drawing process of the zombie portrait, in a gif!

EYE see what you did thaaaAAARRRR!!

zombie portrait of Cobalt Please

It has been one hell of a tough month for me and mine. Without going in to a lot of details I'll just say health for everyone here is doing better, but other issues will be life long. Everything all at once was enough to make me just quit the internet for a while. I haven't been online in any real capacity except to post a few sketches a couple weeks back, and to paint this zombie portrait.

The photo doesn't really do the image justice ... so much is lost on the screen.

There are other things I have created while offline and I'll be rolling those out over the next few days, and I'm also about to launch a new indiegogo campaign ... so stay tuned.

zombie 231

Ryan usually wears glasses but they were knocked off when the horde of zombies pulled him down and started gnawing on his limbs and clawing up his face. Don't feel to bad for him, he doesn't need them anymore ... all he needs is braAaaainsz!

brother zombie in law

My in-laws came down to visit today, unexpectedly. It's not a bad thing, in fact it was pretty decent overall. My brother in law has co-workers that don't believe he knows me ... seems like a weird thing to doubt but whatever. I decided to draw him quickly as a zombie so he can show his coworkers and rub it in their face.

If you ever come across this dude in the zombie apocalypse be careful. If he's not yet a zombie, be his friend because he's a MMA fighter and he can kick serious ass. If he is a zombie though  ... aim for the head and don't miss.

child zombie soldier

I tried to draw this zombified child soldier of the apocalypse in a hangout on air last night and explain my technique ... but my internet connection died and cut it off about 3 minutes in. I didn't notice and kept going talking to myself ... i'll try again sometime ... until then ... here's the final image.

these aren't your typical momma's boys

A couple of boys were commissioned by their mom ... she wants to show them what she'll do to them if they don't do as they're told.
Is your mom like that?

something different

This image was a semi random doodle. I put out a call for newish people to introduce themselves on googlePLUS, and the incentive was a zombie portrait. Many people responded, some with jokes, some with a little introduction, and one that said she just found out she was pregnant. Another awesome person also nominated her to be the chosen victim, and who am I to argue??
So ... with out using any black pen and trying a few new things with water colours ... here is today's DAILY ZOMBIE !
the picture looks much better in real life, this was taken by digi cam, i'll try to scan it in better some time

on the table

this has just been finished, and now being put aside to scan tomorrow and then next zombie is about to be created. For those that are wondering, I don't work digitally, instead I get dirty, messy and throw my ink and paint on thick(ish) watercolour paper. I use decades old watercolor paint, dollar store pens and brushes, and whatever else I have lying close at hand. I probably shouldn't and one day I won't, but until then ...

together

This is my friend Sean and his parnter Blain ... quite possibly the brightest picture I have created in a very long time. This is a crappy digital camera picture ... looks way better in real life.
