acrylic zombies

I've been playing around with acrylics on paper a lot lately, and I have started trying a few portraits with this medium as well. Here are the first 2 that I've done in recent days. They're 4"x6" acrylic paint on 300 lb watercolor paper. For the rest of this year I am going to offer these up at $50 each with free shipping. I'm recording the process on them too, so you can see it being created if you wish.

Platinum Blonde Zombie

The other day I had started drawing up a zombie and the idea for big blonde hair struck me as funny. This is the end result ... makes me think of an 80s rocker gone zombie.
Never did care for the 80s ... I'm more of a 90's kinda guy.

skull green ... when life gives you lemons

take those lemons and throw them back at life.
Then paint.

This is the result of to much green left on the brush and a need to not waste a damn bit of it.
After the green was smeared around I thought yellows and reds would look good too. Not sure what possessed me to add the blue but I like it.

Unintentional Evil Bert

The unintentional angry Bert came about after I became frustrated on a portrait, and flipped the paper 180 degrees and proceeded to take my feelings out on the paper. The final image makes me think of an angry Bert from Seasame Street's Bert and Ernie.

Blood Zombie #5

This is the fifth blood zombie-esque painting in the series. On this one I tried to take a little more time while the blood flowed. When it was dry I picked out a  few important parts in black ink. I like the over all look and I'm quite pleased with this one.

You can own the original here: http://bit.ly/12uq6QC

Bloody Cat 2

The second blood cat in the series of blood paintings.
This is my blood and a touch of ink, painted on 4x6 watercolor paper.

Bloody Snowman

Merry Bloody Christmas!! Tis the season for some bleeding ... right?
Painted this snowman with my own blood on a 4x6 watercolor paper. Added some watercolor and a touch of ink too. If you want to own the original bloody snowman, click here: http://bit.ly/bloodysnowman

the zombies are coming ... for Christmas

A little while back I created some zombie ornaments for fun. It was inspired by the GWAR ornaments that +Cliff Roth had previously painted. They were a lot of fun to make and I've since made them available in my store.
These are created on a blank ceramic ball which is heavier than it looks, but very sturdy so you know it won't shatter if its dropped on a carpet or anything. These were painted with watercolor and drawn with black and red inks.

They look pretty damn cool on the Christmas tree.

another session of blood

I didn't do it on purpose ... not really. In the great scheme of things it was destined to happen. And like the last time, I hate to waste any good supplies or materials ... so the blood hit the paper and this is the result. You can get this or some other blood paintings here: http://bit.ly/bloodpaintings

more blood ...

The other day when I posted my blood painting, I didn't tell you that I had created more than 1. There was enough blood to do a second ... but did it end there?
Stay tuned ...
This one was a little quicker and looser than the previous self portrait blood painting ... I think the look and smell of the blood was starting to trigger a bit of rage and it shows in the painting.

A raging blood furious zombie.

Let the blood flow

I was bleeding, and I hate letting good art supplies go to waste, so I grabbed my brush and some paper and started painting while the blood flowed.

Blending In by Standing Out

I was looking around at art websites and when I do that I start comparing myself to them and I start thinking "Damn I wish I drew that good" ... and other thoughts like that. Then I got my paper and paints in line and started creating. As I threw the paint on the page I began thinking about how if I drew like them then I wouldn't be drawing like me. And how can you stand out by drawing just like someone else ... you can't. You eventually blend in while trying to stand out.
So ... I keep going along my path ... drawing and writing and creating the only way I can.

This piece has an image area of 8x11 inches, mostly watercolor and a bit of ink on 300lb cold pressed watercolor paper. It's up for auction for 48 hours with the starting bid at $30 ... or you could buy it now by going to my store. http://bit.ly/blendingin

3 stories

Every story has more than 1 side ... and when dealing with 3 people there's often 3 stories. His, hers and the truth. At least that's how it is in my house when my kids fight with each other.
This image is based on one of those fights, and the eventual time outs that everyone recieved. I never did learn the truth about who started it.
Starting bid on this one is $20 - leave your bid in the comments or go here to buy it now: http://bit.ly/3storieszombie

I'm continuing to list my artworks for sale and auction. The auctions last for about 24 hours, when they end the highest bidder in the comments wins it, or if there are no bids I close the auction and it remains for sale in my shop.

Deaths Mask

Over the last couple weeks I've been exploring muted colors and bold lines. This a skull I painted a few days back and I call it Deaths Mask. It's looking to the future as am I, wondering where my art is leading.

I'm going to sell it in a 24 hour auction with a starting bid of $20. If you want to bid on it, leave a comment below with your bid. If you want to buy it now its available here: http://bit.ly/deathsmask

elder gods

I would never have guessed that an elder god would look so... kitteny?
Another 13 word story by +Jim Cavera
The elder god looks a little  more cartoony than I originally intended ... I blame it on the kids and their constant redonkulousness.

story 4 of the 13 word story series

This one is pretty clear ... written by +Jim Cavera

13 word story #3

The knife glinted in the moonlight. Eyes closed, she never felt the blade.
Another 13 word horror story for this full moon Friday the 13th
This one is written by Karen Schumacher

ARISE!

ZOMBIES ARISE!
Feast upon the flesh of the living.
Let the slaughter begin.

This is the second 13 word story painting, also written by me and also with the words as part of the image. Doing that is an art form in and of itself, and something I will learn to do better.

guidance -- the first of a series of 13 word stories

Death
My dark companion
Forever at my side
Guiding me
Towards the inevitable

This is the first painting based on the first 13 word story. This story was written by me and I thought it would be clever to put the words in the painting. It's harder to do than I thought.

13 paintings based on 13 different 13 word stories for friday the 13th

For tomorrow I want to unleash 13 different paintings based on 13 different 13 word stories. Do you have what it takes to write a 13 word story/poem that is somehow based in horror or terror? There doesn't have to be zombies in your story but a zombie might still be drawn. You can tell a story that actually tells a story, or creates a mood, whatever.
If you want to participate, just write your story in the comments and I'll choose the 13 I like best.

working on some zombies

When working hard feels like hardly working ... today I'm trying to get more #zombies completed for the 1000 zombies project. It doesn't look like the Dark Knight will be a survivor in the coming apocalypse.

My first Solo Show

Been a busy weekend of #zombie portrait drawing ... In between that I've been working on some new pieces, including several horror movie icons. I also finished off some old paintings that have been staring at me from the shadows. Now I have enough work to hold a Solo Horror Art Show ... online!

This Wednesday, May 28th, I will unleash the new works for the world to view and purchase. It's my first time trying something like this, so I'm quite excited and a little nervous too. Here's a sneak peek at a WIP

Another Dollar Doodle - Yvonne

Another Dollar doodle ... this time its +Yvonne R .
Not sure if I should leave it as is or hack out her inner zombie.

thisGUY - dollar doodle

It's been another day of chaos and craziness ... which is typical for me. Found the time to do another dollar doodle ... do you know who this guy is? He's on G+ quite a lot and across the pond from me. Any guesses?
Pretty much a non zombie image ... might leave it like this or revisit it at a later date.

Hello Kitty - dollar doodle

I think I was a little to influenced by Simon Bisley when I tackled the Hello Kitty dollar doodle last night. I had just finished watching a few videos of him drawing and being interviewed before I began to draw ... so some of his awesomeness might have tried to leak out on to the paper.
I am a poor mans Bisley though, of that I have no doubt ... but all in all I still dig this image.

But I had to try another one ... toned down a little bit ...
Shout out to +Kyla Myers for the buck and choosing the topic.

Dragon - dollar doodle

Another dollar doodle request from Traci ... this time it was a dragon.
Perhaps not the words most awesome dragon, or zombie for that matter,
but it was for a buck so cut me some slack :-p
At least I drew it on decent quality paper in case I decide to sell it at some point.
Traci gets dibs ...

zombie unicorn dollar doodle

Finished my dollar doodle of a zombie unicorn which was suggested and funded by Traci

feeling sketchy

Here's a couple pages out of my sketchbook ... its a cold wet grey day and the kids are home because Canada celebrates Victoria Day. I really don't know why we have this day off but I'll take it, though I wish it wasn't raining so the kids could get outside and work off their energy.
Starting to dig in to the zombie portraits from the kickstarter campaign, and I 'll be finishing off the rest of the dollar doodles today too.
Coloring book coming soon ...

zombie coffee is coming

I've been talking to some coffee roasters and pretty soon they'll be unleashing a Zombie Apocalypse Wake the Dead espresso blend ... and it will feature some of my artwork on the labels. And the roasters just sent me some sample coffee to try ... they smell awesome!
They even made my own special blend :)

Bearman Cartoons is giving away money ...

Because what does a zombie need with money anyways? In reality he's giving his money away to charity. You can check out his website here, and if you're on google+ you should also circle him ... make him spend his money.
This is a zombified image I drew of his iconic avatar for part of my 1000 zombies horde. If I was more clever I would make a comic strip about him and his adventures in the zombie apocalypse ... it would probably have a horde of streaking zombies taking candy corn poops while mugging complete strangers.

If any of that made sense you already know +Bearman Cartoons  if not ... you really should be following his adventures.

Zombie Cat revisited

A while back I drew/painted a zombie cat image and it was fine ... but then it wasn't fine so I tweaked it today and here's the final result. Posted for sale here and don't forget to get your own pet zombified, join the 1000 zombies project.

zombie 231

Ryan usually wears glasses but they were knocked off when the horde of zombies pulled him down and started gnawing on his limbs and clawing up his face. Don't feel to bad for him, he doesn't need them anymore ... all he needs is braAaaainsz!

zombie 230

I'm not sure if I pulled this one off or not ... might have to revisit it. Drawing babies as zombies, or just babies in general, is tricky. To many lines and they change from babies in to little old wrinkled people. This is actually my 2nd attempt on +Bill Thruman 's daughter Makayla and I won't lie, I'm pondering a 3rd attempt.
But until then ... we have this little monster that has no teeth but a gummy bite that does more damage than you would think. She should be teething soon, so watch out.

Oh ... and go fund your own zombie before the kickstarter ends.

zombie 229

The most recent zombie of the 1000 zombies project is this guy ... we all know him, and if you don't then gods help you.
Go fund your own zombie today ... help a starving artist out. http://bit.ly/1000zombieportraits

Blurred

Some spare paper that got marked up with some random paint ... so I kept painting and pushing ... I feel like its a little blurry even though it isn't. Must be some sort of metaphorical thing happening.
Up for sale in my store.

Zombie 228

The 228th Zombie of the 1000 zombies art project is Hysky ... caught off guard while asleep in his PJs the zombie attack was swift and brutal. The dude lost an arm but managed to find his hat. Thank goodness for small victories ... such as they are.
Yes he's standing by a colorful brick wall ... kind of trippy for a zombie but it really suited the image I think.

In case you didn't know I'm running a kickstarter campaign right now to help boost my zombie production for the project. Check it out if you haven't yet.

AAHHHH!

Over the weekend I relieved some stress and created this alienesque zombie. I'm unsure if he's killing someone or perhaps relieving himself. You can decide.

Offering him up for sale for the next week (click here) .. and then I rework him.

ruined fish

A while back I painted up some fish for fun ... it was an experiment in minimalism and the abstract.
I liked the image ... for a while.
When I grew tired of it I took my 2 pens and ravaged it over and over again ... same image, totally different feeling in each one.

I'm posting it up for sale until the end of the week ... at which point I will ravage it again.

twitter zombies

A few days back I had a small contest on twitter to reTWEET one of my tweets ... the above 2 zombies was the avatar of the winning Twitter user. Did you know I use twitter? You can find me here.
I'm on Facebook too ... just because ...

I'm about halfway finished my kickstarter campaign and its slowed down a little ... in the next day or two I'll have another contest ... but this one is a little different. Stay tuned.

a long day

It's been a long day ... I think I'll take most of the weekend off and just promote the 1000 zombies project http://bit.ly/1000zombieportraits AND get my shop ready for Monday. If you've been wanting some unique items for your home, zombie or otherwise ... Monday is the day I start listing.
My shop is www.storenvy.com/byronrempel and its currently empty ... until Monday.
Monday.

Oh ... and here's a few doodles that will be getting mailed out to some uber fans.
