Two Half Zombie

This is what happens when Byron Rempel takes two pieces of paper, puts them together and starts to draw a head. Then each piece is separated and painted created two distinct zombie heads, that are actually one. It creates an interesting effect and while it was only created to pass the time, it is something that will probably be done again in the near future.
For those that like the details, each piece is about 1.5"x5" mixed media on paper. It is for sale if you want to own it, click here ... there are also prints available at the stores, you can find the links to them on the side of the blog.

So ... new post in a long time ... how have you been?
I've been stupid busy with family events and life issues in general. Trying to get the blogs set up and running better and also trying to get more involved in other social media platforms like instagram, as well as getting more regular with updating the stores with new products. It's a lot of work for one person to do, never mind creating new artwork.

And now I'm going to go back and update some more parts of this blog.

zombie in jeans

Please excuse all the dust, it has been a while since this place was used last. It feels like I've been out of the art game for so long I don't even know where to begin again. So ... I will try to plunge back in and get things rolling. And to loosen up and scrap away all the cobwebs, I'm keeping things simple and expressive with some fat acrylic brush work on paper. Nothing preplanned or overthought ... straight from the brush to the paper, followed up with a little introspective details work.

I present ... Zombie in Bluejeans ... because what's an abstract painting without an equally abstract title? This is 4"x6" acrylics on paper.

So now I've started ... again. Will the demons bring me back down and keep me down for longer ...  or will I be able to keep free of them long enough to make something else? To post something else. To shout out at the world from this tiny little speck of a town they call a city. To be heard ... is there anyone out there?

Emerging

I like taking some of my older paintings that never quite looked right and giving them a second coat, adding a few more textures and trying some newly learned techniques on them. Sometimes it turns out really well, like this one. Now it really feels like there are more and more zombies emerging from the darkness.

Original available here.

zombies and balloons

This is the full size image for the balloon holding zombie, which was originally created for Two Sentence Horrors. The story is here, and deals with a phobia.

I like how this guy turned out, and he looks a lot better in real life. He's here if you want to own him.

psycho demonic zombie wolverine

Don't know what to draw so I just start drawing. I grab the paints as Wolverine starts to appear but then the demons start to whisper in my ear. The pens come out as the zombies stomp around and do their damage. Let the blood flow ... let the blood flow.

Swarmed ...

Feeling overwhelmed and frustrated about a great many things. So much going on and needing to be done it feels like I'm walking through a fog ... sometimes it's tough being a grownup.

approx. 4"x6" mixed media on paper.

Zombie Tippy

Quite a while ago there was an online fun challenge to draw Tippy the turtle. Naturally I drew him as a zombie. It was a lot of fun, seeing as how I've never really drawn a turtle before. Especially not one wearing a hat. It's about 5"x5" mixed media on watercolor paper.

I'm trying to put a little more work of mine out in the world so I'm going through some and putting them at reduced prices ... so if you like Tippy, here's your chance to get him at a deal. click here.

not my zombie son

Recent zombie portrait commission ... the first son.

International Womens Day

It's international womens day today and here's a shout out to all the moms out there that try to bring fun to their families lives, like Rilla here. She got both of her boys zombified to bring some more weirdness to their house. As a sign of appreciation, I zombified her too.

Group Photo

Or drawing and painting something for hits and iggles ...

This is an image made using input from a bunch of people over on google+ ... they were asked to tell me the object to their left and a color. Then I drew most of those things and used the colors they choose, which was mostly black, blue and green.

It went a little different than I wanted, and was made mostly as a challenge to myself.
