Live Streamed Skull

I don't do a lot of daily things but every day I do things. I'm trying to blog my days over on patreon, and talk more about the thoughts behind some of the art. This skull, first you tube live stream painting ever.

nighTmare KoleckTOR

Repurposing an old paper that once contained a minimalistic portrait sketch the brain shut down so art could be arted, and lo an old god and it's collection of skulls started to appear. It looked a little weird with a big round bald head so horns sprouted and spots appeared. The colour combinations are a bit out there and if I really studied it I'm sure I could find dozens of areas that I could improve ... but would it improve the whole piece?

So it's finished and I think I am going to call it a nighTmare KolecKtor because spelling common words in weird ways is fun.

Way more vibrant in real life ... those tentacle suckers should be a super bright pink ... available at:

OHK ... we're all ohk

Reworking and tweaking older drawings and paintings that needed tweaking and reworking. This skull is sitting on a mostly black background with orange trim. That orange is way more vibrant in real life.
And that's OHK

sketching zombies because ... it's what I do

It has been a busy day of small errands all over this small town, even venturing in to the other small town 10 minutes away to do the SUPERSTORE shopping. I hate shopping ... walking around all these isles filling carts up with food stuffs, sanitary stuffs, miscellaneous stuffs ... pretty soon the cart is full and the wallet is empty. At least we didn't have to put stuff back just to make budget.

The life of the zombie artist isn't all fun and games ... shambling through supermarkets searching for brains deals happens too.

So ... been to busy to draw much today but I did start on this guy in my sketchbook

Drawing Challenge ... with Cliff Roth

So today I hung out with Cliff Roth and Lanc T Miller, as well as Sean Cowen, Mz Maau and Gwyneth Wilson. It was an art challenge day of sorts and Since Cliff, Lance and I are completely incapable of staying on task Mz Maau took charge and drawing began. It started with drawing a metaphor ... being nibbled by ducks or raining fish and bears. WTF right? Well ... it has begun.
After that is was food with attitude ... and mine was a rotten tomato ..
After that it Mz Maau made us dive in to our feelings ... something like that ... I can't remember but this was created and it's supposed to represent how my day has gone so far, and how my typical days are. Fuzzy, frantic and quite simply ... messy.

There was another challenge that had to do with what drives you to do art ... but I was distracted and my computer was acting up so I never really got that one done.
Here's a link to the youtube video of all the shenanigans.

broken hands

So I was sitting at the table drawing like a crazy dude with a blue pencil. Fun times indeed. And then I whipped out my favorite dollarama gel pen and started picking out the lines I liked the best. What do you know, its not too damn shabby. Sure the hands look like they've seen better days, but he is a Zombie after all. What I did notice is that all those pros that have been using a blue pen instead of a pencil are on to a good idea. Speeds things up a lot and stays pretty clean. So that's what I'm going to continue to explore and develop. This guy above is a bit too cartoony for me, but my next dude will be more 'realistic' in a comic sense.

freakenstein

What began as just a normal sketch soon started to take on a life of its own. Then the lights began to flicker and lightening scorched the sky and I shouted " ITS ALIVE !"
I seriously scared my youngest, my second born yelled at me to stop it and my girl giggled. Worst of all my wife gave me 'the look'. If you're a guy and you're married, you know exactly what that look means.

saTURDay

A sketchbook zombie brought to life with pencil crayons. Because it is much easier to watch the kids and color with pencil crayons than it is to do it on computer. ARgh.
