Who you calling chicken?
Don't have much to say, been busy with life issues, still have kids a little bit sick, redirecting and fine tuning my focus to be productive and happy. Really starting to get a feel for this new style that is all me. Going to see where it takes me.
Next week should be awesome.
Cheers

old man zombie
Sometimes things spiral out of control ... sometimes things are out of my control ... sometimes things that are spiraling out of control are out of my control.
Enter sick kids.
If any of you out there have kids then you know just how draining and exhausting sick kids can be. They don't mean to make your life more difficult than it already is, they're just sick and wish they weren't. They don't understand its natural and will go away. They don't know that all the sneezing and coughing is going to pass. No. They're scared and they need a hug and someone to tuck them back into bed at 1am in the morning.
And then again at 2:15 ... and 4 ... and 5:40 ... and 15 minutes before the alarm was going to go off anyways.
That has been my last 5 days.
I hate flu season and I don't think this winter is ever going to end.
This picture was created recently because I haven't been able to do much drawing lately. To uninspired and far to drained. Tomorrow is another day and I have lots of plans. Let's see if life can let me accomplish them or will another curve ball be thrown my way.

who's in control
Well, this was supposed to be online on Monday but for some reason my awesome super duper laptop computer crapped out on me and I spent a whole day trying to figure out why, then yesterday playing catchup for Monday and now today I'm caught up and here is my image for your eyes.
... whew ...
This was drawn and painted on a circular piece of cardboard that I had lying around the house. Used a bic pen to sketch it out then started painting it up with watercolours ... when I was mostly happy with it I took a nice ink pen to fill in the blacks.
This is how I am meant to create my images ... from start to finish with nothing in between.
Hope you like it ... and you can expect more like it

getting over the hump
Many artists will tell you ... from time to time they hit a wall. The come to that place in their own minds that starts to sow seeds of doubt and despair. A dark angry place that often times causes most artists to tear down pictures, throw their brushes and call it quits to the whole damn thing. They don't really want to quit, many of them can't quit, but they're just so frustrated that their work isn't progressing as fast as they want, or they feel like they're stuck in a rut.
It's times like that they need to change things up. Grab something they've never used before and try something they've never done before. Get messy, get weird and above all make it fun again.

Cthulhu Sheen
He's been stuck in my head for a while and I don't know why ... so I purged him. Did I do it justice, probably not. Does it look really damn good. No. Not really. Was it a total waste of time or a good learning experience ... I choose the latter. Whatever else I might say, 1 thing is certain ... Charlie Sheen is Cthulhu and he walks among us. We are blind to his true form.

my zombie wife
well ... it's not really her PER SE but she did unknowingly pose for this. My wife has more face and isn't missing an arm.
Lots going on these days ... working on a book, several covers for other peoples books and trying to get my art prints, sketchcards and zombie portraits available to the masses. Also making inroads with other design firms and graphic companies that have taken interest in my doodles, and I've started concept drawings in earnest for a new ( non zombie ) comic that will one day see the light of day.

friday brings ...
the forest zombie.
This is a sketchcard inked and painted on a 2.5 x 3.5 cloth. Quite tricky painting on that but it has been a fun learning experience. More experiments are on the way. And if you feel like owning this sketchcard or any of my other art stuff ( like magnets ) ... check out my store at www.idrawzombies.com/store/

just another thursday
Eat one of them and you will be one the biggest trip of your life. Quite possibly the last one you ever take.
My fingers are dry and cracking ... typing is starting to hurt. Winters suck.

hump day happenings
Trying hard to get my main site www.idrawzombies.com online and functional again. It's probably always going to be a work in progress ... but it's taking shape. I will use it mostly for selling and showcasing my work. I have my zombie portrait prices up now as well as 8 sketchcards. More stuff will be coming online soon.

tuesday troubles
It all started at 6:30 this morning. The wind was howling outside when 30 minutes before the alarm was set to go off the BOYS awoke. After that it has been a whirlwind of bustle and busy with not nearly enough time to put pen to paper. Most of my time today has been taking up doing computer graphics for a publisher and my own site ... plus varoius other chores and nefarious deeds. This image however, was drawn while waiting in the truck.
And then ... while having a cup of coffee with my better half, I doodled out a 'known' character and really didn't do him justice. And yes, I know that one arm is bigger than the other.
