Painted up this old lady zombie while watching FEAR the Walking Dead. I don't know about you, but I like that show. They have done a great job portraying how the zombie apocalypse might start out and the character development is happening.
This is a mixed media art card, 2.5"x3.5" on thick watercolor paper. Own the original.

GO _ _ _ _ YOURSELF
This image was made in response to a PM someone sent me a few weeks ago as well as conversations
I've had recently with other artists that are scared to promote their art in fear of alienating fans/followers.
If you don't like the fact that we're promoting our art, or prints, or our services to make a buck to pay
the bills and feed our families, then uncircle us.
We draw and paint for the sheer love of it, but the banks still want their money.
So does the power company, water company, grocery store, gas station, etc etc etc.
That's off my chest, I feel better ... now go buy some zombies.

playing with the dead
After over a year of drawing zombie portraits nearly every day, and sometimes dozens a day, I've started to play around with my artwork more. Again. I'm still doing portraits because I have the 1000 zombies project going on, and I still enjoy showing you what you, or your friends, look like with undead eyes.
But I'm also playing with them and my art styles a lot more now. Time to learn and experiment and grow. So expect to see some different stuff in the weeks and months and years to come. Here's a small taste.

1000 zombies on TV
A couple days ago the fun and friendly people from Global National Winnipeg ventured in to the Zombie Factory for a few hours. After a few hours only the camera man emerged uninfected. They edited out most of the carnage though ...

TGIF ... seriously
It has been a rough week in the fact that swimming lessons for my children, while being totally worth it and potentially life saving, wreaked havoc on my schedule. Tomorrow I get to sleep in and have morning coffee.
On the plus side I've been having a blast getting to know people and spread the infection on googlePLUS. Doing lots of quick little 5 minute zombie portraits for people that aren't expecting it has been great fun. And a few more zombie cats have managed to claw their way into my life. Here's a peek.

This little dude went up for sale on etsy today, and sold within 2 hours.
YAY for that, but like all my zombie kitties, I'll be sad to see him go.

Saw this pretty little lady filling up my googlePLUS stream, so I zombified her.

This guy egged me on ... he got what he deserved.

chicken zombie - revisited
Which came first, the chicken zombie or the rotten embryo? This is the secret KFC doesn't want you to know about. Zombie chickens ready to peck your clucking brains from your skull.

You may remember this image from earlier on ... it's been tweaked in photoshop and displayed in 2 different ways, and is now available as a shirt in my spreadshop store.

I'm going back over some of my more popular images as well as some that never saw the light of day and getting them made in to some sort of product. Many people have been asking for coffee and travel mugs so those things are on the horizon. All this just takes time and my biggest project right now is finishing off the new website design for BuyZombie.com. Once that's done it will be more tshirts as well as web comic pages and nothing else.
Oh, and July will be a month of some give aways for people that own one of my shirt designs. Thats all I'm saying for now ... back to

an old, old one
So today marks the first day of my wife entering the working world again, leaving me alone with the my kids ... and all the chores. I thought that maybe I could get some work done this morning, give the boys lunch and get some more art done in the afternoon.
I was wrong.
There are so many stupid little chores and tasks to do during that day that it's a full time goddamn job and I was a fool to think this would be a cake walk. Interruptions and distractions were everywhere. I'm hoping that the evening, after the kids are in bed, will be my time to get productive.
Otherwise we're all in a lot of trouble. Me more than you.
Old image of an old one that hangs on my wall.

the week that left me drooling
It was a hell of a week that began with could read like a tragical comedy, complete with doctor visits, temper tantrums and a total disconnect. But, as I am always telling my wife ( and she is slowly starting to believe me ) , things worked out in the end. If it wasn't for the up and downs that life deals to us on a day to day basis things would surely be dull.
It would be nice if there were more ups than downs though.
Anyways ... artwork continues. Currently working on a portrait for the band Threw and another commission that I can't name just yet. Also looking in to setting up a table and an upcoming artshow in July to spread a little Zed infection, and nearly ready to pimp the shiAt out of myself on zazzle and other POD sites.
And the weather has been nice lately, so I've been working outside with the birds and bugs ... and my boys.

hump day horrors
Today has been a bugger of a day. First I overslept and only got up at 7, then nearly late getting my daughter to school, next it was mild shopping then household chores, now its trying to stop my boys from spilling each others brains out on the floor. Bad day to run out of duct tape.
Anyways, latest sketch card that is for sale ... or I give it to Allison because she really likes it.

monday night droolings ...
... or drawings, or doodles, or whatevers ... just playing around with light pencils, heavy colors and a touch of ink to seal the deal. I'm kind of liking this way of doing things and I am going to keep exploring it, and I think I am going to start working bigger.
In other news ... my prints are selling slowly but steadily, and the new ones are due to arrive next week, including my 3 foot tall banner for when I finally attend a convention.

zombie level up
It might not look like it, but this is the image that helped me level up in my skill set, if I can call it that. Just a lazy day doodle with a bic pen, but I did it on one of my 'low' days when I felt a bit crappy about my skills, and I pushed it further than I normally do. I colored it today to show you all what I saw a little easier. The portraits that I will post tomorrow are a direct result of pushing myself with this image. Side note ... should i post just once a day, or whenever the hell I feel like it?

shuffling along
Its been a hectic and busy last few days ... all because of a certain holiday that I will not mention here. I like this holiday for the family and presents and such, but I hate the commercialism of it and I'm not a big fan of the religous aspect either. Thats as much as I will say about that.So yeah, busy times but I do have lots of drawings done that need to get scanned. Also making lots of progress using Paint Tool SAI and the Rise of the Zombie will be seeing a relaunch in the first week of y2k10. Fingers crossed.
