It has been a rough week in the fact that swimming lessons for my children, while being totally worth it and potentially life saving, wreaked havoc on my schedule. Tomorrow I get to sleep in and have morning coffee.
On the plus side I've been having a blast getting to know people and spread the infection on googlePLUS. Doing lots of quick little 5 minute zombie portraits for people that aren't expecting it has been great fun. And a few more zombie cats have managed to claw their way into my life. Here's a peek.
This little dude went up for sale on etsy today, and sold within 2 hours. YAY for that, but like all my zombie kitties, I'll be sad to see him go.
Saw this pretty little lady filling up my googlePLUS stream, so I zombified her.
It's been a rough day. Thankfully the swimming lessons end tomorrow so my mornings can get back to normal. Main thing is I will get coffee in the morning. I miss my morning coffees.
Also busy answering emails about doing commissions and about the tshirt campaign I am running. If you're curious about that, click the link to the right ---> and sign up. I'm half way to my goal and feeling pretty damn good about it. It will be gruesomely great.
This is a zombie picture I was doing just for fun, and the one below is some guy named Sean Bonner. Found him in the googlePLUS stream and I had my way with him. He didn't struggle very much.
It hasn't been a very focused day. Most of the morning was spent with swimming lessons for the kids, and aw shit shopping. As in, aw shit we forgot to buy jam ... and eggs. I hate shopping at the grocery store ... would much rather go to a toy store, art store or halloween prop store. The afternoon wasn't much better, lots of time spent separating the kids so no blood would spill. Trawled the GooglePLUS stream for a few zombies, the images below are what I found.
This is the second zombie kitty trading card I have made, its for sale on Etsy right now. The first one went really fast. Seems like people who like zombies also like cats ... and zombie cats are a hit! Well, at least it seems like they are so far. Even if they weren't I real enjoy drawing them. It's lots of fun, my kids really like it and its neat practice. So many different breeds, I'm going to try a hairless one next. Going to make it extra creepy. :) The cat is the background is Charlie. He likes sleeping near the laptop b/c its warm
This is my first ever zombie kitty commission and the customer is very happy with the results, but I have mixed feelings. Typical of us artsy types ... or so I'm told. Seems that people want me to draw their pets suddenly, both zombified and 'regular' ... not complaining, just saying. If you want one too you know what to do.
It's been a gloomy, dreary, rain soaked Saturday. The perfect type of day to sit around drawing zombies, listening to the sounds of children tormenting each other while fresh brains bread bakes in the oven.
So on Google+ it was suggested I do a zombie kitty, and this is my second attempt at it. My first one, several years ago, wasn't quite so cute. This one is a tad more adorable, kinda, maybe, and has an uncontrollable urge to eat bird brains.
It'll eat any type of brain, I just wanted to say birdbrains.
So what is it? Zombie Kitty or Kitty Zombie, and is there a difference?
Also - if you want to own this sketchcard you can. I'm taking bids on it until tomorrow morning, so send me an email ( idrawzombies AT hotmail DOT com )with your bid and it might be yours. Chances are likely no one will buy it, so if you really do want it, at least pay for the shipping ;)
I mentioned yesterday I finally bought water color pencils. I just started using them today and they are surprisingly AWESOME. Blending is so much better now, and I am really getting excited about doing some amazing pieces. Ideas are flowing like blood from the severed carotid artery.
Finally bought myself a set of watercolor pencils, and I've only just begun playing with them. I hope to post some kick ass images soon ... maybe even some of YOU as a zombie.
It's 1:30 am CST and I really should be sleeping ... but the call of Cthulhu has kept me awake and fearful. Working and slaving away at this design, afraid to stop, anxious to finish and terrified to get it wrong.
The latest shirt design available at my spreadshirt store ... the Cthulhu-Shroom. One bite will melt your mind and consume your soul.
Been some crazy days lately with getting my kids to swimming lessons, replacing batteries in the truck, rescuing my mom from searing heat and getting the central AC fixed. I also did a couple of quick zombie portraits. 15 minutes or less quick. If you want one, let me know via email and for 10 bucks I'll hook you up.
And if you're interested in seeing how I drew it, here's a slightly sped up video
Today has been a day filled with loading up all the old and unused crap we have lying around the house and carted it off to my moms house to sell at her yard sale tomorrow. One persons junk is another persons treasure, or so they say. I really don't care, I'm just happy to be rid of it. And if it all sells for a buck ... it's a buck i didn't have yesterday.
Because of all that I didn't get a chance to draw much today, so I'm throwing up something I did a while back. It's originally color but looks pretty cool in black and white. I was giving it to Martin Brandt for the upcoming release of his zombie anthology (which I have a 10 page story in) called DEAD FUTURE. If you're at all interested in getting it, or helping to make it happen, you should check out his fundraising campaign at http://www.indiegogo.com/The-Dead-Future-Continues - check it out.
It's hump day, and what better way to celebrate it all than to GET NAKED!
Seriously, is there anything more sexy than rotten stinky naked flesh. This beauty was only 23 when she turned but that was 6 months ago. Since then she's kinda let herself go.
Working on a background image for a website and it has got to be the most ambitious image I have tried. All about perspective, straight lines and coolness. If the client doesn't fire me for taking so long this will be a cool image and an awesome shirt.
Speaking of shirts, here's a new design I uploaded to my shop today, from a doodle I made about a year ago. Check it out HERE.
I promise not to bitch about how busy shit is lately ... it is what it is. Instead I will just give the world a big finger of DOOM and be done with it. A new design for a new shirt coming out one of these days. Dig it?
I think I am going to start a new theDailyZombie tradition and hold 'Who Dis Wednesdays' and this is the first installment. So my fellow horror freaks ... WHO DIS?
Well, it was Ratzinger or whatever his name is. Pope Benedict the 16th or some such, but i don't think I quite got the Dark Sith Emperor look quite right. Plus he probably looks a bit emaciated ... which really is normal when you're a zombie ... right?
ohKAY .... anyways, its my take on the Pope ( capital letter and all ) and now he's done. If you want the original, or a print, send me an email. If you hate it and wish a horrible death upon me, well, send me an email.
I went out and hung a few of my better (or worse) zombie drawings and paintings for an artshow that is happening tomorrow. There are artists from all over the place hanging and displaying their work but there is only one zombie artist there.
Me.
I will also be there tomorrow doing some demos and painting some portraits, so if by some miracle you are in or around Morden, stop by, say hello and get your portrait drawn.
This image is my old mentor Marcel. He taught me many things about art and life, and always encouraged me to give the established "norm" the finger and kick em in the nuts as hard and as often as I can. Check my facebook page for a picture of him.
