yellow zombie

Those of you that know me know that I have a really busy family life. I'm involved in all aspects of my 3 childrens lives, and they keep me busy from the moment they wake up to about 2 1/2 hours after they've gone to bed. It's rewarding most of the time, and frustrating the rest of the time. I have no life and I don't really expect to have one for at least another 4 or so years. That means my comic/illustration career is slow on the uprise.

But it is rising. My newest adventure is going to be happening right here on this very site. Instead of just a doodle a day, starting tomorrow it will be a doodle with a story.

Tune in tomorrow to find out just what the hell I'm rambling on about.

sketches 101

some quick sketches from my sketchbook put together. It's been a helluva week with the kids, but things are starting to settle down.
And on that note, my middle child is storming up the stairs.

headache

Just a quick image tonight. Busy doing lots of stuff, including a redesign of my site under a new name yet to be announced, a couple of webcomics by various writters and lots of other stuff, including and monopolizing all my time, theKIDS. If only there was more help, but as a woman I know always says ... 'you made your bed, blah blah blah'

yeah
the end.

the end of the block

The only reason I can think of for that title is that it feels like the end of the artists block for me. This was a quick little image inked then watercolored for shits and giggles. And while I stared at it something went click inside me and now I think I am ready to really begin production on a whole lot more stuff.
Lets see how I feel when I wake up.
In other news, check out the contest over at project fanboy. It relates to the Dead Future project I am working on. Get yourself zombified and published.

old school

A quick little image drawn in pen then quickly colored in photoshop. I tried going a bit more detailed on the color, then the computer froze so I had to start over. This is a better version. More stuff coming soon, cuz today is a busy busy drawing day.

the dullness factor

Have you ever noticed that when things start working out well and the future seems bright, suddenly small things start occurring to dull that bright and happy feeling. It seems like the story of my life. I won't bore anyone with details but take the above picture for example. It started off strong, good idea and some nice flow but slowly a line wasn't right, the positioning was a little off, and not quite enough fore thought was used. End result, crap.
Tonight is my crap night and everyone gets infected. Good night.

ZOMBIE guy, cat and dog

This is an image of a Zombie Guy, with a Zombie Cat and a Zombie Dog. You can tell they are Zombies by their extra long tails with spikes. This was drawn by my daughter who is 6 and took pity on her old man that was suffering from a terrible head cold yesterday. She had fun making it.

H1Z1 claims child

This image was made for the contest at Lost Zombies where I could win a book. The direct link to the contest is here. Other than that, life has been busy as usual with kids, shit to do and then drawing. Lots of drawing, always drawing. And then website stuff. There are more images coming so stick around, and while you're looking check out some of them nifty graphical links to the side over there >>>>
Also, visit the Grim Crew to see a preview of the cover to the graphic novel I am participating in. I will have a 10 page short story all about . . . ZOMBIES.
Lastly, pay a visit to my twitter pal TheUnclean's website here. More Zombies cuz you just can't ever have enough.

panel reject

This is one of the panels from the Dead Future project from GrimCrew that I am working on that has been rejected by that bastard inside my head that always says my work isn't good enough. I wish he would just shut up and leave me alone. Maybe I'll have to drown him in Wisers Whiskey tonight.

that lady got zombied

Had some free time after lunch and wanted to try to zombify someone.
So I found this lady in a magazine.
It turned out pretty good, and I might even color it if I get the desire. Probably tonight. Anyways, if anyone wants me to draw them as a zombie, send me an email with your picture and I will do it NO CHARGE.

Any takers?

speed paint

Letting off some steam by doing some quick sketchy inks then painting it up fast and furious. It felt good to let loose. Then I took the image into photoshop and played with a new brush I downloaded from webcomics.com. Now its on to other stuff and probably some more cleaning because no matter what I do this fwacking room just never gets clean.

Maybe its time the kids move out?

a different kind of cute

Yet another crayon coloring job at the kitchen table after breakfast, which by the way, I made for my wife. The kids buttered the toast. Happy Mothers Day indeed.
When asked why I don't use better tools for coloring, I answered my wonderful woman with the truth ... because the good tools are down stairs and I'm upstairs. Simple answers are my favorite kind.

not a babe

She fugly, but she really wants to get to know you better.
Just a quick crayon only doodle done while trying to keep my 3 kids busy coloring and not kicking each other. What a day.

H1Z1 to go please

Sure, MickyD's probably doesn't have checkered counter tops, but they do serve up some tasty death wrapped in paper. It's been months since I've eaten anything there and I don't really miss it. Me and mine eat take out once in a blue moon, which isn't very often if you know anything about blue moons. But I digress.
Above image was a warm up sketch after breakfast, and colored in photoshop quickly with the mouse and some default brushes. I would give an unspecified body part for a tablet. ))sigh((

YeAaAAARrrrRRrrrgh

The kids were screaming, getting into things they shouldn't get into and I was trying to draw. Needless to say they won the battle, but not the war. This was a quick blueline sketch then inked with actual ink and colored with acrylics. Not to bad for a half hours work stretched over 3 hours.

marker madness

Just a quick and simple marker doodle before lunch to get the juices flowing. Working hard to get the zombie short done because I got lots more other stuff I want to do as well. I'm also finished working on the layout for a while. Maybe a new graphic here or there, but thats about it. Give me your thoughts on what I have done. Does it work for you or should I improve further. There's a poll to your right as well that I would appreciate you taking a moment to do. Today might be a 2 post day.

headshot

It has been a hell of a weekend, and a busy one that involved mostly housework and yardwork. Spring cleaning sucks but the end result is always worth it. The above is just a head, and I went far to busy rendering the beard. Overall I would give this a 4 out of 10 and chalk it up to experience. I'm also renovating my blog page, so the colors will improve along with the rest of the site. Stay tuned, things are going to get a bit more interesting soon.
